CEREBRAL EDEMA,INTRACELLULAR ENZYME RELESE,LACTATE ACCUMULATION,IIPOPEROXIDATON AND STRUCTURAL DAMAGE INDUCED BY GLOBAL CEREBRAL ISCHEMIA/REPERFUSION IN RAT

ln the study, we used cerebral ischemia/reperfusion model occluding and reopenning threevessls. Electroencephalography was recorded. Cerebral water content, Na+and K+eontent.lactatedehydrogenase(LDH) and creatine phosphokinase( CPK) release from brain, lactate concentration,and malondiadehyde(MDA) content were measured. Histological examination was performed. The re- sults showed that electroencephalography was depressed seriously and bacame a straight line nearly. Cerebral water content was higher in reperfusion group than that in control and ischemic groups( P0.01, P 0.01). CerebraI Na+ content was higher in reperfusion group than that in control andischemic groups(P0. 01,P 0.0 1). CerebraI K+ content was much lower in reperfusion and ischemicgroups than that in cortrol group(P00l, P0.01). Lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) activity loweredin reperfusion group as compared with control and ischemic groups( P0.01,P 0.05).Creatinephosphokinase(CPK) activity lowered in reperfusion group as compared with control and ischemicgroups(P 0.01,P 0.01). Compared with control and ischemic groups, cerebral lactate concentrationand malondiadehyde(MDA) content were much higher in reperfusion group(P0.01, P0.01) consis-tently. The histological examination showed that hyperemia and interstitial edema appeared inreperfusion group.Neurons degeneration and edema were more serious than that in ischemic groupand were accompanied with liquefaction and necrosis in neuron.
