Stress Analysis of Underground Tunnel with Consideration of Brittle-plastic Transition Behavior of the Rock

The brittle plastic transition behavior of the rock is discussed. Based on idealized rock stress-strain relationship of Toshikazu, a new strength criterion is presented. Under some proper assumptions the formulas for the stress state of the circular tunnel are obtained. The results from calculation show that there are three stress states, namely:softening-elastic, residual-softening-elastic and residual-plasticelastic.
