Reliabilition Estimate on Safety of Soil-Nailed Wall in Three Dimensional Limit Analyses

YANG Yu-wen(Wuhan Geotechnical Engineering and Surveying Institute,Wuhan 430022)  
This paper introduces 3D stability limit analysis model for soil-nailed wall based on the upper bound theory.In the model,three parameters are taken as random variables for cohesive force,internal friction angle of soil,limit frictional force between soil nail and surrounding soil.The failure probability can be assessed for stability of soil nailed wall by applying the reliability method of Taylor series.It is proved in a case study that compared with the conventional methods with the factor of safety regarded as safety criterion,this reliability analysis has advantages of real reflection of soil properties and request only for modest extra effort.
