Long-term Settlement of Saturated Soft Clay under Subway Loading

The aim of this paper is to analyze long-term settlement of saturated soft clay foundation under subway loading and a predicting method is proposed by combining two-dimension finite element calculating method and empirical simulation formula.The settlement can be divided into two parts,that is,deformation caused by cumulative plastic strain under undrained cyclic loading and reconsolidation deformation caused by dissipation of cumulative pore pressure.Then the settlement is calculated using empiric formula based on critical state and the stress of soft clay can be gained from FEM calculation.The total deformation can be gained from layered summation method.Finally,the result of an example is in good agreement with the fact.
