Application of Strength Reduction FEM in the Stability Analysis of Highway Tunnel Slope

The collapse of slope in the tunnel entrance section is frequently the main reason to cause the struc- tures fracture destroy or even collapse of the portal,so the stability of the tunnel access slope is a question that must be seriously considered in the time of design and operation of the tunnel.For different slope form of tunnel entrance, this paper uses the Strength Reduction Finite Element Method,and reduces the strength of the side slope's non-lin- ear finite element model,till the FEM program is no longer at the steady state,then we can get the slope stability co- efficient,the sliding line and the process of the destruction.Comparing the results of the Strength Reduction FEM with the particular project,the feasibility of the Strength Reduction FEM was confirmed in the stability analysis of a slope in a real tunnel project.
