An Analytical Expression of Yield Probability on Mohr-Coulomb Criterion

Based on the Mohr-Coulomb Criterion and the theory of reliability,the strength parameters of geomaterials are taken as random variables following the normal distribution,an analytical expression of yield probability for Mohr-Coulomb Criterion is given.The Monte-Carlo Method and FOSM(First Order Second Moment) Method are used to test the correctness of the solution.Some influences of variation of strength parameters on the judging results of Mohr-Coulomb Criterion are discussed by use of the solution.The results of discussion show that the strength parameters have different influences on the yield probability of Mohr-Coulomb Criterion.While the coefficients of variation of strength parameters are great,their influences on the yield probability of Mohr-Coulomb Criterion are obvious and can not be neglected.
