Composite Finite Element Analysis on Soil-nail Retaining Structure

In this paper,the soil-nail retaining structure is treated as a kind of cross-anisotropic and macroscopically homogeneous composite material in terms of the equivalent continuum.The concept of friction equivalent additional stress is introduced to simulate the interfacial action between soil and soil–nails,and then the constitutive relation of the composite materials and the equivalent composite model were established.Compared with the computed results obtained by "the separated model" and "the composite model" on the basis of the analysis of finite element method,it was shown that the equivalent composite model reflected the interaction between soil and soil–nails,and the equivalent continuum method was proved to be feasible.
