Analysis of and Engineering Measures for the Impact of Large Area Fill on Adjacent Piles

The impact of large area fill on the piles is often expressed as the combined effect of negative friction and lateral load.The work characteristics of piles under fill are studied by numerical analysis.Then,the deformation and force of the pile in Nanjing Shimao Bund hotel project were analyzed by finite element method.The analysis results indicate that the pile and structure will result in a larger deformation and internal force,and the corresponding solutions were put forward,such as the setting pile and pedestal structure to support fill and reducing the thickness of fill,using lightweight fill material to reduce the weight,setting embankment pile to reinforce the foundation,using the retaining piles as isolation screen between fill and main structure and increasing the number and stiffness of edge piles to resist the fill.These measures have achieved good results and FEM were used to analyze the reasonableness of the solution.
