EXTRACTION OF TAURINE FROM OYSTERS WITH THICK SCALES

Objective\ To set up a simple method of extracting natural taurine from aquatic product.\ Methods\ The oyster was first boiled and dissolved in water. The salt and taurine could be separated by using salt ion exchange resin. De salt and purification was carried out at the same time.\ Results\ An integrated method of extracting taurine was built. The taurine purity could reach to 98.5%. The product could be used as food additive.\ Conlusion\ The method used in this study was a good way of extracting matural taurine from aquatic product.\;
