THE DEPRESSIVE EFFECT OF GLYCOSAMINOGLYCAN FROM SCALLOP ON TYPE-Ⅰ HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS

Objective To study the inhibitory effect of glycosaminoglycan from scallop skirt(SS-GAG),in different time and concentration,on type-Ⅰ herpes simplex virus(HSV-Ⅰ). Methods The Vero cells were infected by HSV-Ⅰ SM44,and their degeneration then observed.The inhibitory effect of SS-GAG,in different concentration and time,on replication of HSV-Ⅰ was detected. Results Compared with the virus control group,SS-GAG-treated group could protect the Vero cells effectively and heighten the cell activity(F=27.54,P0.01),and could lessen the cytopathic effect induced by HSV-1 and inhibit virus replication.The antiviral effect increased along with the prolongation of drug used,the ER% could reach the highest of 88.64%. Conclusion SS-GAG shows siginificant activity of protecting host cell and antiviral effect against HSV-1 in vitro.
