A Preliminary Study of the Distinction of the Genesesof Various Quarternary Diamictons UsingGrain-Size Analysis

In this paper, the differences between the various Quaternary diamictons in the regions around the Kunlun Mountain Pass, Qinghai province, the debris-flow deposits in Wudu region, Gansu province and the modern tills of the Gongba Glacier in the Gongga Mountain, Sichuan province are discussed on the basis of the grain-size characteristics of the sediments, and the geneses of various Quaternary diamictons are distinquished further. There exist obvious differences in their transport medium, transport processes and the deposit processes. The grain-size characteristics reflect the sedimentary environment. Therefore, to distinquish various Quaternary diamictons by using the grain-size characteristics of the sediments is one of effective ways.
