The Frozen Ground Roadbed Researches in China:Past,Present and Future

The great achievements and progresses in frozen ground roadbed researches since the new China foundation were reviewed,and especially,the research works of the Qinghai-Tibet highway research group were focused to introduce.With the development of the west of China and the engineering construction in cold regions,significant progress in theories,embankment stability technologies and numerical models were made,which all became the base of Qinghai-Tibet Railway construction.At the same time,the Qinghai-Tibet Railway not only provided a broad test platform,but also made the permafrost roadbed construction technology,including the design theories,calculation theories,technology for maintaining roadbed stability,application of new materials and new technologies etc,reach a new level.Finally,based on the present construction condition of the frozen ground roadbed and future need from state,a prospect on the studies of frozen ground roadbed is presented.
