Stratigraphic and Structural Analysis on An Ice Core to the Bedrock in the Accumulation Area of Glacier No 1 at the Headwaters of Urumqi River

An ice core 91.64 m in Length, to the bedrock extracted from the accumulation area of the Glacier No 1 at the headwater of the Urumqi River was analysed for its stratigraphy and structure in detail The original depositional features are well preserved within the top 20 m, but milk-like white ice with lower density is discovered in the depth of 70~80 m It is suggested that the ice at this depth was deposited in the Little Ice Age The ice at the middle part of the core is characterized by dynamic metamorphism and recrystallization, displaying repeatedly reducing-growing features in crystal size and air bubble No single-maximum fabric can be seen but a weak vertical circle fabric is observed Weak diamond-like multiple maximum fabric appears only in the bottom part
