Structural transformation of amorphous Al2O3 prepared by low - temperature combustion synthesis

Ultrafine powders of Al2O3 are prepared by low - temperature combustion synthesis (LCS), in which the reaction matters are aluminium nitrate and carbamide (the mass ratio of 2. 5:1). Amorphous Al2O3 obtained at the igniting temperature of 300℃ is sintered. It is found that the phase transformation temperature from amorphous Al2O3 to α - Al2O3 is more than 1 000 ℃ by XRD, and the process of phase transformation is amorphous→γ→α. Amorphous Al2O3 can be obtained when the igniting temperature is less than 400℃, whose shape is anomalously layered and the size from 200 to 400 nanometer by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and selected area diffraction (SAD).
