Research progress in electromagnetic wave absorbing coating materials

In this paper, the international developments on electromagnetic wave absorbing coating materials are summarized on the basis of the discussion of the principles of wave absorption. Recent developments of absorbing coating, including ferrite materials, absorbing nano-materials, high temperature absorber, chiral material, plasma material and magnetic polymer microsphere, are introduced in details and their main characteristics are analyzed. The applications of the traditional ferrite materials, metal micro-powders and ceramic absorbers are limited because of their large densities and narrow absorbed frequency, the research on the chiral material, plasma material and magnetic microsphere will be the focus of the absorbing material.
