Preparation of nano-TiO_2 powder at low temperature and the study on its photocatalytic ability

Anatase and rutile nano-TiO2 powders were synthesized by directly hydrolysis of TiCl4 solution.XRD and TEM were used to characterize the crystal structure and surface morphology.Then anatase nano-TiO2 powder was calcined at the temperature between 400~1 000 ℃.The changes of the crystal structure and photocatalytic activity of samples treated at different temperature were analyzed.The results indicate that anatase nano-TiO2 starts to transform into rutile structure at the temperature of 600~800 ℃,and completes this transformation at 800 ℃.Nano-TiO2 calcined at 600 ℃ exhibits the best photocatalytic activity,and the methyl orange solution was degraded by 86.96 % after 3 h illumination.
