Stress field and damage evolution analysis of the sparse particle reinforced composite

The ceramic particle reinforced nickel matrix composite is one kind of material which combines the properties of the reinforced phase and the matrix, so it has been widely used in the engineering. Composites were simplified as representative volume cell in the paper, and in order to study the interaction of the particles, each cell includes two ceramic particles. Then ANSYS was used to construct the cell model, simulate the tensile stress field, analyze the stress distribution and the material properties. The results show that the stress is uneven in the cell and the elements near the particles with high stiffness will damage first. At last the stress change and damage evolution route are simulated when the damage happens using the element birth and death technology. The work of the paper can be a reference of further experiment and theoretical analysis.
