Study of the non-chromate environmental friendly chemical conversion coating on aluminium alloy

In order to substitute the traditional chromate treatment,a process to form an environmental friendly coating on aluminum alloys was developed by the use of the Ce(NO3)3 as the main salt and H2O2 as the oxidant. An orthogonal experiment was conducted to optimize the preparing parameters of the coating-formation, and two coating-formation accelerants of SrCl4, NH4VO3 were added to the preparing solution to improve the formed coating performance. SEM,EDX and XRD were used to study the coating surface morphology and composition. Results of the experiment show that the coating-formation accelerant plays a positive role in the coating performance, and the coating with a good corrosion-resistance and appearance grows quickly at the solution temperature of 40 ℃.
