Research on composite laminate packing problem

DENG Dong-mei,ZHOU Lai-shui,An Lu-ling (College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing 210016, China)  
According to the characteristic of composites and the special making procedure of its parts, the composite packing characteristics are summed up. Based on the characteristics, a polygon placement scheme is proposed to automatically nest composites pieces within the rectangular stock. Three key polygon packing technologies are studied,which include calculation of feasible sliding vector and sliding distance when one polygon slides along the other’s boundary,evaluation of all the feasible positions,combination of the new placed polygons boundary with original one. Theses technologies are used to implement the placement of pieces with certain sequence, and the sequence can be optimized by simulated annealing (SA) algorithm.
