Influence of Y_2O_3 on the mechanical properties and fracture process of 93W-4.9Ni-2.1Fe alloy

The mechanical properties and fracture process observation was studied by in-situ tensile test of 93W-Y2O3. The results show that the tensile strength and elongation of 93W- Y2O3 decrease compared with 93W. As Y2O3 addition decreases the strength of tungsten grain, microcracks produce in some tungsten grains under tensile loading. Cracks propagate along the interface of matrix- Y2O3 first with the increase of tensile loading. As Y2O3 blocks the slip of dislocation, the plasticity of 93W- Y2O3 alloy reduces.
