Increasingly severe electromagnetic (EM) pollution and demand of military stealth technology give rise to opportunity of developing microwave absorbing materials. The properties of microwave absorbing materials depend mainly on the absorbent filled into the materials. Magnetic fibers arouse the interest and research of scholars at home and overseas because of their excellent adjustment of electromagnetic properties, high permeability and magnetic loss. This paper reviews the research status of ferrite fibers, magnetic metal fibers, magnetic amorphous fibers and nano fibers. The characteristics and development of magnetic fibers have been discussed. The multifunctional, amorphous and nano magnetic fibers will be the development direction of the microwave absorbent.
