Research achievements of plastic deformation mechanisms on magnesium alloys

This paper reviews the research on slip and twinning mechanisms of plastic deformation in magnesium and its alloy at room temperature and summarizes the development in plastic deformation of magnesium alloy.It can be concluded that the plas- ticity of magnesium alloy at room temperature may be improved by twin strengthening,c/a ratio reduction and grain refinement. Based on the current achievement, it presents an effective way to improve the performance of plastic deformation in magnesium alloy. The research is of guiding significance in developing deformed magnesium alloy of high performace and optimizing its processing technologies.
