Research progress in influence of alloying elements on damping properties of magnesium alloys

The damping mechanism of magnesium alloy was briefly introduced.Dislocation damping is the main mechanism at room temperature,but under high temperature,besides dislocation damping,there is also crystal interface damping.The research status in influence of alloying elements on the damping properties of magnesium alloy was also discussed.And the future application of damping magnesium alloy materials was prospected.It was pointed out that by introducing new damping mechanisms or using the advantages of many damping mechanisms,the structure-function integration materials with high strength and high-damping property could be obtained,and it would be the important research direction of high-damping magnesium alloy materials in the future.
