Immersion corrosion study of Mg-Nd-Gd-Zn-Zr magnesium alloy in 5% NaCl solution

The test of immersion corrosion of Mg-Nd-Gd-Zn-Zr magnesium alloy prepared by two casting processes and T6 treatment in 5% NaCl solution was carried out and the surface microstructure of the alloy after corrosion was analyzed by SEM.The results showed that the anti-corrosion performance of the alloy by squeeze casting was more favorable than that by sand casting.After solution soaking for 72 hours,the matrix of magnesium alloy was seriously eroded and microcrack was found.
