Numerical simulation on semi-solid extrusion of aluminum alloy gear pump

It is desirable to use semi-solid extrusion technology to produce components free of gas hole and porosity which are usually found in those spare parts produced by the method of casting.In order to study the deformation behavior of A356 alloy in high solid fraction state at temperatures range of 570-580 ℃,the constitutive equation of semi-solid A356 aluminum alloy was established by regression linear method which is based on the theory of rigid-viscoplastic finite element and experiment data.The commercial finite element simulation software Deform-3D was employed to simulate the extrusion forming process of gear pump body for A356 semi-solid aluminum alloy.Through the simulation of the forming process,the flow velocity field,effective stress field,effective strain field,pressure-stroke curve etc were obtained.Then the flow situation of the billet during the forming process was gotten through a brief analysis of the simulation results.
