Infiltration of ferrum-copper powder compacts in liquid aluminum

Infiltration behavior of ferrum-copper compacts in liquid aluminum was studied by orthogonal test method.The growth rate of density,change rate of hardness and microstructure of ferrum-copper compacts before and after infiltration were compared.The effect of temperature,pressure and time on infiltration was analyzed for studying infiltration behavior.The results show that density and hardness of ferrum-copper compacts increase after being infiltrated;microstructure becomes uniform gradually with temperature increasing and infiltration time prolonging;hardness is mainly influenced by density,and secondly by dispersion strengthening of interface and intermetallic compound.
