Effect of stirring modes on microstructure and wear resistance of Ni/TiN composite coatings

Ni/TiN composite coatings were prepared on the 20 steel by mechanical stirring and ultrasonic stirring method.The TiN particle content,microstructures and wear resistance of Ni/TiN composite coatings were investigated.The results indicate that the TiN particle contents of Ni/TiN composite coatings prepared by ultrasonic stirring and mechanical stirring electrodeposition are 10.9 and 9.8%(mass fracture),respectively,and the micro-hardnesses are 871 and 926HV,respectively.The surface particle diameters of the Ni/TiN composite coating prepared by mechanical stirring and ultrasonic electrodeposition are about 3 and 1 μm.The wear tester shows that the abrasion loss for Ni/TiN composite coating prepared by ultrasonic stirring electrodeposition is less than that prepared by mechanical stirring electrodeposition.
