Temperature field characteristics and mechanical properties of double pulsed spot weld bonding for DP590 high strength steel

The double-pulse DC spot welding waveform and orthogonal experiment of spot weld bonding were designed for 1.5 mm thick DP590 high-strength steel sheet.The tensile tests were carried out to obtain the tensile strength of joints.In order to analyse temperature field characteristics of nugget zone,the simulation model of double pulsed weld bonding was established.The results show that the maximum average failure loads of double pulse and single pulse weld-bonded joints are 9 863.34 N and 9006.01 N,respectively.The thermal cycling curves show a"double peak"feature,and there are two nugget growth processes in the nugget zone.The temperature of the nugget zone reaches above 1 517.4℃when welding time is 169 ms,and the temperature at the center of the nugget is 2 600℃.When welding time is 340 ms,the nugget reaches the maximum after double pulsed currents,and the simulation results of nugget diameter agree well with the experimental data,which proves that the simulation model is reliable.
