STUDIES OF ARC EROSION OF CATHODE MATERIALS

Studies on cathode material erosion in arc plasmas including numerical analysis and experimental investigation were reviewed. Too low diffusion rate of the oxides in W matrix is the main problem for cathode erosion. Because of the enhanced diffusivity in comparison with conventional coarse grained materials the nanocrystalline cathode material will be expected to improve the erosion.
