Optical interconnection and optical computers striding forwards 21 century

HE Xingren(Chongqing Optoelectronics Research Institute,Yougchuan 632163)  
To meet the requirements of high compunication in 21 century and to solve a variety of limitations existed in today's electrical interconnection and information processing technology,optical interconnection and optical computing have become more and more attractive.The paper describes characteristics,functions and structures of optical interconnection.Its applications in optical computing and optical neural networks are also presented.
