Optimal Design of Gain-flattened EDFA in C Band

The performance of DWDM system is strictly limited by flatnessless of the gain of EDFA. Many approaches are put forward to flatten the gain in the whole C band.A kind of dual stage structure with a gain equalization filter between fibers is presented.The length of two EDFs is optimized to make the transmission spectrum of gain equalization filter easy to be realized.The optimized total output is 17 dBm with gain fluctuation of 1 dB in the entire band of 1 530~1 565 nm,and noise figure of below 5 dB.
