Preparation and Luminous Performances of SrAl_2O_4∶Eu~(2+),Dy~(3+) Luminous Materials

The SrAl_2O_4∶Eu~(2+),Dy~(3+) luminous materials with high brightness and long persistence have been synthesized by solid sintering technology using carbon as reductant.The factors that influence the luminous performances and preparation technology have been discussed.These luminous materials exhibit broadband peaks in both excitation and emission spectra.The excitation peaks are between 275 and 420nm,and the main emission peaks are around 509 nm.The results indicate that the luminescence of these materials are due to 4f_7(()~8S_(7/2))—4f_65d transition of Eu~(2+).Additionally,the long persistence of the SrAl_2O_4∶Eu~(2+),Dy~(3+) luminous materials can persist over 20h. The effects of such factors as the temperature in the sintering process,different proportions of Eu and Dy,and different additions of boric acid on the luminous intensities have been searched into.
