Design and realization of trapezoid fiber optic delay line encoder/decoder

Trapezoid fiber optic delay line encoder/decoder is the most prospective encoder/decoder among various fiber optic delay line counterparts.Its design method is discussed and analyzed in detail with the emphasis on the design of the optimum coupling factor for the fiber coupler.Comparison is made on the effect of the coupling factor on the autocorrelation peak and the sidelobe compression ratio under different conditions.It is shown that to get a correct decoding,the optimum coupling factor at each point should maximize the autocorrelation peak and the sidelobe compression ratio.The experimental results indicate that the encoder/decoder exhibits excellent performances in terms of this method.
