Synthesis and Characterization of Polyaniline/Cobalt Ferrite Nanocomposite

The pure cubic cobalt ferrite(CoFe2O4)nanoparticles were prepared by sol-gel microwave heating self-propagating combustion method using Co(NO3)2·6H2O,Fe(NO3)3·9H2O and citric acid as raw materials in an appropriate proportion.Then,the polyaniline(PAN)/CoFe2O4 nanocomposites were synthesized by in-situ polymerization of aniline in the presence of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles with 20-30 nm diameters.The morphology and structure of as-prepared nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and powder X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results show that there is an interaction force between PAN chains and CoFe2O4 particles,and the PAN is covered on the surface of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles.The formation of PAN/CoFe2O4 nanocomposites is further confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction and infrared spectra.The results of fluorescence spectroanalysis indicate that the fluorescent intensity of PAN is enhanced with CoFe2O4 nanoparticles.
