Culture, Language, and Personality Structure

WANG Deng\|feng and CUI Hong (Department of Psychology, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China)  
Personality structure consists of an individual's constant behavior patterns displayed in the process of adjusting himself to his environment. Its coming into being is closely related to the culture, and its significant prints are traced out in the language being used. A study of both English and Chinese adjectives expressing personality trait will not only track down the dimensions of personality structures both of the Westerners and the Chinese people, but also reveal the characteristics of the two cultures.
