The Tang's Conquering of the West Xia and the Ji's Attacking of Danzhu
HAN Jian\|ye (Department of Archaeology,Peking University,Beijing 100871,China)
Around 2600 BC,the Taosi sub\|culture in Linfen Basin witnessed the emergence of many eastern cultural elements. This, accompanied by the decline of local traditions represented by the subculture of Miaodigouerqi, was due to the westward immigration of the Taotang clan and its subsequent conquest of the West Xia.Around 2200 BC,many northern elements appeared in the Taosiwanqi sub\|culture.Meanwhile,the eastern cultural elements were on the verge of vanishing. These,in turn, were the direct result of the southward penetration by the Jizhou ancestors led by Houji. Those two cultural controntations and their aftermath incurred the southeast movement of the main group of Xia people and eventually the establishment of the Xia dynasty.
