An Analysis of the Historical Rationality About the Property Structure Change in China During the Reform

LIU Wei, HUANG Gui tian, LI Shao rong (School of Economics, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China)
Since the economic reforms started in 1979, China has changed a great deal on the ownership structure. The weight of state owned enterprises in China's total output has declined, and the weight of various kinds of non state owned enterprises has uplifted since the beginning of reform. We must judge whether the change is historically rational. In this article, it is argued that the ownership structure reforms, according to our model estimates, has brought a high China's average annual economic growth rate, and has resulted in the improvement of the average annual growth rate of total factor productivity, specifically, capital productivity. It showed the historical rationality on social productivity. The other model developed in this thesis shows sufficiently the historical rationality of the ownership earning.
