New Aspects of Nature and Material in Du Fu's Poetry

CHEN Lan (Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Peking University,Beijing100871, China)
The paper attempts to explore some innovative elements in Du Fu's object-sensing art: His scenic poetry tends to give prominence to the concrete features of natural environment and their corporal influence upon people among a certain space-time relationship; Du Fu has reestablished the tradition of object-chanting poetry and made some significant developments: 1. to explore the unique metaphorical meaning via detailed description; 2. to transfer emotions into objects through portrayal. Du Fu also embodies his object-sensing skills in the enhancement of logic and empirical demonstration, and the concern of mutual efforts between objects. Therefore, the implication of these new developed factors appears as: anti-metaphysics, anti-typification and pursuit to the scope of experience. This is also an inevitable trend of lyric poetry after it reaches to the apogee.
