THE COMMUNITY AND BIOMASS CHANGE IN RODENTS UNDER THE CONDITION OF RECLAIMING THE DESERT INTO FARMLAND IN NOMHON, QINGHAI PROVINCE

1.In reclaiming the desert into farmlands by the cultivation of crops and by other agricultural measures,the community and biomass the small rodents have taken radical changes.After cultivation of crops,Cricetulus longieadatux has increased rapidly in number,and replaced Merimes meridianus as the dominant species.The numbers of Cricetulus longicaudatus and Mus musculus have increased year after year,whereas those of Meriones meridianus have decreaset.2.From the desert to farmlands a series of successions both in plant communities and in rodent communities may be recognized.We used the plant-rodent associations as their representations and the following associations were recognezed.(1)Tamarix laxa+ Nitraria schoberi + Lycium ruthenicum Phragmites com-munis-Meriones meridianus+Dipus sagtlta.association was the virginal desert community.After reclaimation and cultivation,it was changed from (2) Phragmites communis-Chenopodium sp.-Meriones mcridianus association and latter to (3) Tri-ticum vulgare-Chenopodium sp.-Cricetulus longicaugatus + Mus musculus association.3.Besides the numbers of rodents,their biomass was also considered.
