STUDIES ON THE BIOLOGY AND POPULATION FLUCTUATIONS OF ERIGONIOIUM GRAMINCOLA

ZHAO JINGZHAO LIU FENGXIANG(Laboratory of Pest's Natural Enemies, Department of Biology, Wuhan formal College)
In Wuhan, Erigonidium graminicola- has six generations each year. The full-grown female spiders have the habit of mating several times, and they lay fertiliyed eggs throughout their life after only mating once. Female spiders without mating, lay eggs too, but these eggs do not hatch. One female spider lays about three hundred eggs throughout its life. The reproductive capacity of spiders is related with conditions such as the age of spider, kinds of food and the temperature.Temperature may greatly influence the developmental stages and the longvity of the adult spider. The favorable tempeature for development these spiders ranges from 20-30℃. Under the constant temperature of 35℃, the eggs do not hatch. In the fields of wheat, rice and cotton in Hubei Erigonidium graminicola is the one of the largest populaton among spiders. Its population fluctuations vary with its pests. It has some influence in the control of the reproductive capacity of tie pest.
