Random Analysis on the Axial Seismic Response of Buried Pipeline

Using the theory of random vibration the effect of the spatial variation of seismic ground motions on the response of pipelines is examined. The joints are predigested as rigid joints and pipelines are predigested as elastic groundsill girders. Based on some examples, the frequencies differ little, so more modes are needed when calculating the stresses. The displacement, strains and stresses in the middle range of the pipeline change little. It is needed to choose and apply the power spectral density of ground motions, because the effects are gread.
