An Efficient Algorithm for Pre-processing in License Plate Automatic Recognition System

This paper introduces an efficient algorithm for pre-processing in license plate automatic recognition system. In this paper, in the first place a new image analysis method is used to locate the vehicle license, then preprocessing is carried out by edge detection and binary conversion, and finally the result is obtained with the character recognition system. The results of experiments show that the algorithm is fast and efficient, and high recognition rate is achieved.
