The Function and Significance of Microscopic Organisms in Water Quality Surveillance

Water pollution is still an outstanding problem in China.Biological monitoring is one of the effective methods in monitoring water quality,it is one method of judging the water pollution by the information of aquatic creature in polluted environ- ment,microbial community is a integrity ecology unit in aquatic ecosystem,it is sensitive to the stress and can recover quickly by itself after stress,and it plays an important role in water quality monitoring.Aquatic microorganism includes algae,protozoa,bac- teria,fungi,rotifer et al.Their respectively own pósition and role in aquatic ecosystem and the reason of micro-biological be- coming the important methods in monitoring of water quality were reviewed.
