Microwave-assisted Extraction(MAE) Method for the Analysis of PCBs in Sediment

Microwave-assisted extraction(MAE) is an alternative method for the extraction of polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) from sediments. And it only uses a moderate volume of organic solvent and relatively short extraction time in compare to traditional methods such as Soxhlet.In this study,the parameters which may affect the efficiency of the method were optimized.The solvent types,the influence of extraction time and temperature were evaluated,respectively.The optimal conditions for further experiments were performed at 120℃,for 20 min and using 30 ml of Hexane:Acetone(1:1,v:v).The proposed method was also used for the extraction of PCBs from sediments of Songhua river.The results agreed well with those obtained by Soxhlet.
