Mechanisms of Denitrifying Dephosphatation and Review on Electron Acceptors

The Comeau-Wentzel model on biological phosphorus removal is described.It is suggested that this model should be applied in denitrifying dephosphatation.According to the latest research finding on denitrifying dephosphatation,the effect of electron acceptors on denitrifying dephosphatation is discussed in details.In the presense of lots of nitrate,anaerobic phosphorus release would be decreased.Nitrate can be utilized as electron acceptor in denitrifying dephosphatation,but the velocity of phosphorus uptake would reduce when the concentration of nitrate exceeds an inhibition level.Nitrite can also be utilized as electron acceptor in denitrifying dephosphatation so long as its concentration does not exceed an inhibition level.
