Simplified Response Analysis and Research on Design Parameters of Seismically Isolated Bridges

Based on the simplification of the Seismically isolated regular bridges as two_degree_of_freedom(TDOF) systems, the TDOF isolated bridges in which the isolation mode is dominant are simplified as the bilinear SDOF isolated systems by use of equivalent linear method. The bilinear characteristics of the isolation bearings and the effects of the parameters of substructure mass or viscous damping ratio of bridge columns on structural response are included in the simplified SDOF isolation systems. This paper presented the calculating mechanic model responding to the simplified SDOF isolation systems, and discussed the effects of some design parameters such as the shear displacement ductility ratio, hardening stiffness ratio of isolation bearings, mass ratio of TDOF isolated bridges, isolation mode period, column bent period and responding viscous damping ratio on nonlinear dynamic time_history response under the near_field earthquakes, and then arrived to reasonable choice criteria for some design parameters of isolation bearings.
