Study on the Application of the Decoupling Transformation in Power System Transient Protection

Power system transient traveling wave protection has the advantages of high response speed,high accuracy and is not affected by power frequency phenomena,e.g.,oscillation and transition resistance.Decoupling transformation is one of the key technologies to realize the transient protection.This paper proposes the concept of the decoupling transformation,analyses the characteristics of the decoupling transformation of each kind in transient protection,and proposes a new kind of decoupling transformation,i.e.the symmetrical component transformation.The simulation results show the correctness of the research.
