Effects of time delay on semi-active control for high-speed railway vehicle suspension systems

The influence of time delay on railway vehicle dynamic performance were analyzed in semi-active on-off control and improved on-off control by using multi-body dynamic technology and co-simulation method.The results show that the effect of semi-active control on vehicle lateral dynamic performance is obvious, and the higher vehicle speed,the better performance in ideal condition without time delay.Although the effect of time delay on lateral dynamic performance is large,it is not worsened gradually with time delay but wavelike.The effect of semi-active control is the worst even failed when time delay is in the range of 100~200 ms and 400~500 ms.If consider time delay,the performance of on-off control is better than that of proposed control.This result is opposite to the case without considering time delay.Thereby analysis of time delay is very necessary.
