On the Historical Status of Zhu Zhanji

ZHAO Zhong-nan(Department of History, Peking University, Beijing, 100871)  
Zhu Zhanji was the 5th emperor during the Ming Dynasty, who made a full contribution to a significant political achievement called "Ren-xuan's Politics".With the support of many elderly statesmen, Zhu had perfected and formed the institution of cabinet and institution of provincial governor, and improved the institution of supervision judicature of Ming Dynasty. Meanwhile, he had also developed court culture a lot in his times, and completely recovered economy in his society. As a result, the Ming dynasty under his lead acquired a further consolidation and development. On the whole, Zhu Zhanji was one of feudal emperors who made their distinctive contributions to their times, although he made a lot of troubles and hidden dangers to his society in some ways.
