New Technology of Synthesis of Normal Butyl Acetate with Catalytic Distillation

The normal butyl acetate was synthesized from acetic acid and normal butyl alcohol over the catalyst of zeolite of Hβ in a catalytic distillation tower.Some factors that affected the esterification,such as feed location,reflux ratio,the space velocity of the feed,the ratio of acid to alcohol and reaction location were studied and the appropriate reaction conditions were investigated and obtained.The location of feed site of acid is about 695?mm apart from the bottom of the tower,the location of feed site of alcohol is 105?mm apart from the bottom of the tower and the distance between reacting location and the bottom of the tower is 283?mm.The reflux ratio is 2.5.The space velocity of alcohol was 0.64?h~(-1) and the molar ratio of acid to alcohol is 1∶1.The ratio of the height of rectifying section,reacting section and stripping section is 1∶1∶1.The reaction time was 6.0?h.Under the conditions mentioned above,the content of normal butyl acetate in organic phase on the top of tower was 93.73%(g%) and that in the bottom of tower was 72.30%(g%).The total yield of normal butyl acetate was 62.32%(mol%).
